JANUARY 2023
Grades k-5: I am very happy to announce that in the month of February The American Heart Association Kids Heart Challenge is back!! The students will be participating in a jump rope unit along with our big fundraising event The Kids Heart Challenge the week of February 13th. This event will be lots of fun for all involved with the students practicing their jump rope skills and learning new skills to enjoy. Plus it is a great opportunity for the students to participate in raising money and awareness for a great cause. Also in this month the students will be participating in some fun winter sports themed PE activities!
Health Classes Grades k-5: February is National Heart Health Month so all grades will be studying heart healthy topics such as the anatomy of the heart, ways to keep our hearts healthy and strong, heart diseases and preventions.

NOVEMBER 2022
Physical Education Classes: In the month of December, the students will be continuing their work on their throwing and catching skills. The students in grades K-2 will be working on using the correct form for underhand throwing and overhand throwing along with working on their tracking and catching skills. The students in grades 3-5 will also be working on their throwing and catching skills, taking part in several different activities that involve using both underhand and overhand throwing. Along with throwing and catching skills, the students will also be working on football skills. The week before holiday break we will be taking part in some fun traditional holiday PE activities.
Health Education Classes: In the month of December, the students will be exploring some of these health topics: personal hygiene, the health triangle, sleep, dental health and stress management, and social emotional learning.

OCTOBER 2022
Physical Education: In the month of November, the students will continue to work on spatial awareness along with loco-motor skills, listening and following verbal cues to movement/music and several cooperating activities with a focus on teamwork. The students will also be completing their soccer unit in the first two weeks of the month and next they will begin another fun-filled unit of throwing and catching skills! They will participate in a variety of activities that help develop their throwing and catching skills along with having fun.
Health Classes: In the month of November, the students will be studying the health topics of the health triangle, social emotional health, gratitude, personal health and hygiene.

SEPTEMBER 2022
We are off to a great start this school year! In the month of September we are introducing our PE/health expectations along with many movement activities that focus on spatial awareness, loco-motor skills, listening and following verbal cues to movement and several cooperating games. In the month of October the students will continue to work on movement concepts of spatial awareness, loco-motor skills, listening and following verbal cues to movement and cooperating games. The students will also begin their first sport skill unit of the school year which is soccer! The students will be practicing their soccer skills in a variety of different activities that focus on cardio endurance, muscle endurance, agility, skill development and teamwork. Towards the end of the month of October the students will also have lots of fun participating in some Halloween themed PE activities. These activities are always a big hit with our students.
Health Classes: Vision screenings will be completed for all grades K-5, along with making their own personal health folders. Topics that will be discussed in the months of September-October will be school bus safety, fire safety, health triangle, stranger danger and Halloween safety.
